Selena Gomez isn’t hiding her feelings these days, especially after seeing a video on TikTok that took aim at her relationship with Benny Blanco. The video clip was an old footage of the songstress while attending the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November 2015.

The caption of the clip is what did not sit well with Gomez as it harshly took a dig at her romance with music producer Blanco. The user wrote in the caption,

“I know and so do you that at the time she would never have gotten engaged to Benny, she was in her IT GIRL era”.

Selena immediately left a comment on the TikTok post on July 28, 2024, directly responding to the troll’s comment about her relationship. Her response was simple and mature, addressing the state of mind she was in back then. It read,

“Kinda makes me laugh because I was so depressed back then lol”.

This online altercation on TikTok is not the first time the Monte Carlo actress has replied to negative comments. From time to time, Selena Gomez has a history of defending the people she loves from online trolls. 

She said in an interview at the TIME100 Summit in April 2024,

“I find it frustrating and then I get a little mouthy, and I wanna defend people I love… So I try to—I don’t really pay much attention. I’ll just do things here and there”.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s history goes back to 2015, when they connected while working on her second solo album, Revival. Years later, their collaboration on a 2019 music video blossomed into a friendship that evolved into a public romance in December 2023. They have since been in a thriving relationship.
