Joe Jonas has denied any intention to air his dirty laundry on his new album.
In an interview with Billboard, published on August 26, 2024, Jonas discussed the creative process behind his album, Music For People Who Believe In Love. This new project is set to be released on October 18, 2024.
Speaking to host Jason Lipshutz, the singer revealed that most of the songs on his album were inspired by his split from ex-wife Sophie Turner. However, he quickly clarified that the album is not a personal attack targeting her. He shared,
“I’m not trying to come for anyone on this album. I’m not trying to put stuff on blast. I have a beautiful life that I’m grateful for”.
The Sucker singer also reflected on the challenges of balancing fatherhood and personal growth during a difficult time in his life, referencing his messy divorce. Despite the hardships, he emphasized his desire to focus on the positive aspects of his journey. He added,
“I was going through a lot of life changes, finding out who I was as a person and father and friend… And I think, at such a crazy time in my life, I looked to music as an outlet. I’m a happy person, and the music needed to resemble that but also, the journey to get here”.
Joe Jonas’ New Album Consists Of Several Personal Music
Earlier in a July 2024 interview on the Therapuss podcast, the musician revealed that his latest album is the most personal project he has ever undertaken, sharing his emotional connection to the music.
He also opened up about the difficulty of balancing his solo music career with his commitments to the band, Jonas Brothers. He revealed in the podcast episode how he managed to find time to work on his new album. He shared,
“Nick booked a movie and Kevin was going to do another season of ‘Claim to Fame’… So I had the window of time, and I locked myself away… made an album in two to three weeks. I’m just really excited. It’s the most personal music I have ever put out”.
After almost three years of dating, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner tied the knot in a secret Las Vegas ceremony in May 2019. The former couple, who share two children together, divorced in September 2023 after four years of marriage.
Their divorce took a dramatic and messy turn when the Game of Thrones actress legally sued Joe, accusing him of keeping their children away from her. However, she later dropped the charges, and now the two share joint custody of their daughters.
Fans Unenthusiastic About Joe’s New Album
Many netizens have expressed skepticism regarding Joe’s claims that his new album does not target his ex-wife. Some comments harshly criticized the choice of the album title, suggesting it could be a veiled attack. Such comments read,
“That has got to be one of THE most hypocritical album titles I have ever read in my entire life”.
“Music for people who believe in framing their children’s mother in tabloids”.
One fan comment voiced their discontent by simply saying,
While Joe Jonas maintains the album is a celebration of positivity, only time will tell if fans will be able to separate the music from the drama surrounding its creation and whether the songs truly back up the singer’s claims.
