Celebrity chef Michael Symon credits his culinary success to his wife Liz Shanahan (now Liz Symon). The couple dated for four years before getting hitched on November 1, 1998.

Liz Shanahan is a businesswoman and partner of every restaurant owned by her husband, Michael Symon. Her social media tells that she is fond of gardening, her dogs, and good food. I mean, I’d be a foodie too if I was married to Michael Symon!
She has also made a guest appearance in an episode of Daily Dinner with Michael Symon on Food Network.
Michael met Liz in the early 1990s while working in a restaurant called Players, where Liz was working as a front manager. The two struck an immediate friendship, though the latter was married to someone else at the time.
Liz hopped right over when Michael asked her to join him at his new job in 1994, and that’s when everything began. Liz had gotten divorced by then, so Symon’s path was all clear.
The story started with a little something-something (hint: drunk makeouts), which evolved into a proposal two years later. The couple finally got married at Cleveland’s Pilgrim Church in ’98.
After her marriage to Michael, Liz Shanahan goes by the name Liz Symon. She also has a son from her previous marriage called Kyle Symon, whom Michael adopted in 1998. Liz and Michael do not have any other children. The power couple are grandparents to Kyle’s two children.
In an interview with The New York Times, Liz Shanahan gushed over her husband Michael:
“This is my second marriage, but this is the first time I’ve been able to breathe. Michael is very chill and non confrontational. When you’re around that, it gives you the ability to trust and gain confidence”.

On November 1, 2022, Michael Symon posted a series of picture of Liz Symon on his Facebook on the occasion of their 24th wedding anniversary. The caption read:
“Happy 24th Lizzie… what a wild ride it’s been… I’ll love you forever…”
Now, Liz and Michael Symon own multiple restaurants. But more importantly, they have a home and a family together. Win-win I say!
