In a candid appearance on the November 25, 2024, episode of the Naked Sports podcast, Harris shared insights into the struggles in their relationship. She reflected on feeling unloved and unprioritized by Ali, admitting,
“I just felt like I wasn’t a priority. I didn’t feel that sense of connection, whether emotional or physical… I became very, very good at dissociating… It was my ability to sit and suffer… to serve other people before my own wants and needs, which I genuinely think probably kept me in that marriage for as long as it did”.
In a shocking revelation, the former goalkeeper disclosed that, toward the end of the former couple’s four-year marriage and just before filing for divorce in 2023, she even proposed the idea of an open marriage in a last-ditch effort to salvage their relationship.
Speaking of her desperation, the soccer star shared,
“I started trying all these things, like, let’s do an open marriage. That was like, my last attempt of, you know, if I’m not getting what I want and we want to keep this together”.
