Marital woes are never easy, and reality TV star Dorit Kemsley recently shared her own experience of navigating this challenge.
On the season 14 premiere episode of the show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which aired on November 19, 2024, Dorit opened up for the first time about her separation from her husband, Paul ‘PK’ Kemsley, after nine years of marriage.
She revealed that PK’s struggle with alcohol addiction was a major factor that had taken a serious toll on their relationship. Speaking candidly on the show, Dorit shared,
“PK was pouring alcohol on his problems within [our] marriage. It got very, very, very, toxic. Over the years, it’s gotten progressively worse, and little fights will turn into blow-ups… I don’t want that toxic energy around…”
Dorit further explained how their ongoing fights eventually built up to a breaking point. Reflecting on the moment she and PK decided to part ways, Dorit shared,
“There was a moment, and it was over nothing, and one thing led to another. We sat down like two very mature adults, who love and care about one another and mutually decided that taking some space and separating is the best thing for us”.
Dorit Reveals That Paul Kemsley Was The One To Initiate Their Separation
The reality TV star candidly discussed her husband’s decision to officially end their marriage and initiate their separation. Reflecting on Paul’s choice, she revealed,
“I wouldn’t have chosen this route. There’s something between having an argument and separating. You can work it out but for whatever reason… For PK, it’s let’s just get a separation… With someone like PK, it’s black. It’s white. It’s extreme”.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, uploaded to YouTube on November 20, 2024, Dorit shared insights into her current dynamic with PK amid their separation.
When host Andy asked her about their relationship status and whether divorce was on the horizon, Dorit responded,
“Things are good. We are friendly and we are communicating… [Divorce] is not even a topic of conversation”.
Dorit Kemsley and Paul ‘PK’ Kemsley publicly announced their separation on May 9, 2024, in a social media statement. The couple emphasized that their decision was mutual and aimed at prioritizing their children while preserving their friendship and respect for one another. The statement read,
