Hunter Schafer has finally addressed the end of her relationship with Euphoria co-star Dominic Fike. In a candid conversation on the Call Her Daddy podcast, which aired on August 7, 2024, Schafer revealed the heartbreaking details behind their breakup. 

Speaking to host Alex Cooper, Hunter spilled the cheater tea and opened up about her first taste of betrayal in a romantic pursuit. She also emphasized the difficulties of coping with a failed relationship. She shared,

“Part of why the relationship ended is because I got cheated on for the first time… that fundamentally changed me as a person… life has been so hard sometimes, I was like, Oh, god is this it?”

The Euphoria star also took responsibility for the failed relationship, emphasizing that both partners are accountable for its success. She also revealed that she discovered Fike’s painful betrayal due to her instinct and sneakily confirmed it. Schafer shared,

“There were things in our own selves that had nothing to do with each other that kept coming up in the way of the relationship… You always know. Because I knew, I went to the phone—which I’m not proud of”.

Hunter concluded her breakup tale by admitting her apprehension about future relationships. The actress expressed concerns about public scrutiny and heartbreak, emphasizing that while her split from Dominic Fike was amicable, the emotional toll of a public breakup was significant. She shared,

“My last relationship was my first public relationship. I don’t know if I’ll ever do it again… it gets just too hard… That breakup was mutually agreed upon… It was a clean parting… It was so hard. We loved each other”. 

As a transgender woman in the spotlight, Hunter Schafer has faced several challenges in navigating romantic relationships. Her romance with Dominic Fike marked her first public monogamous partnership, making the experience even more complex amid societal prejudices and public scrutiny.
