The Bennifer 2.0 romance has officially come to an end, as Jennifer Lopez has taken the legal route to end her marriage.  

On August 20, 2024, the songstress finally filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Ben Affleck, marking the end of their two-year marriage. She personally submitted the legal documents to the L.A. County Superior Court in Los Angeles, opting not to use a lawyer.

In a surprising twist, the filing date holds significant meaning as it coincides with what would have been the couple’s second wedding anniversary. Just two years earlier, in August 2022, they exchanged vows in a ceremony in Georgia, surrounded by close friends and family.

The legal papers list the couple’s date of separation as April 26, 2024. Additionally, anonymous sources revealed to TMZ that Jennifer and Ben did not have a prenuptial agreement, potentially setting the stage for a prolonged divorce battle over their joint assets. 

Shortly after the divorce filing, a source close to the On The Floor singer, shared insight into her emotional state following the split. In an exclusive statement to People magazine, the source revealed,

“She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken. The kids are a top priority, as they always have been”.
