Fame and spotlight can often be cruel, something pop icon and reality star Kelly Osbourne knows all too well.
On May 10, 2025, Kelly made a rare appearance during an interview at the Inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
During the candid panel discussion, The Osbournes star opened up about the challenges of growing up in the public eye and being judged more harshly for her weight than for anything else. She revealed,
“We live in a fat-phobic world. I have been a drug addict, an alcoholic … I’ve been a complete mess, disrespectful to people, horrible, but I got more s**t for being fat than I did for anything else. It’s insane”.
Reflecting on her struggles with constant body-shaming, Kelly explained how relentless it was, with people constantly telling her to lose weight. She added,
“You’ll never read an article about me that hasn’t got a comment about my weight. People would say, you’re so pretty. Why don’t you just lose a little bit of weight, and then you’ll be the total package… It’s not just as simple as just change your diet and move”.

Kelly Shares Exclusive And Honest Details About Her Weight Loss Journey
Further opening up about the pressure and criticism, Osbourne revealed how the constant focus on weight took a toll on her, leading her to try almost every weight-loss method out there. She shared,
“I tried probably everything that there is out there, whether it be surgery, medication, diet and exercise. I got my mind where I needed it to be, and everything started to fall into place…”
Kelly concluded by explaining that once she shifted her approach, only then did things truly start to change, and she began to see positive results, saying,
“You have to change your brain. You have to come to peace and acceptance about where you are in your life before you can start”.
However, her significant weight loss in recent years has sparked its own fair share of criticisms and controversy. Speculation quickly swirled, with some accusing the Papa Don’t Preach singer of using weight-loss medications like Ozempic.
In a candid interview with PEOPLE magazine in May 2024, she strongly denied the rumors, insisting she had never used the prescription drug. She clarified,
“I just have to clarify, I’ve never taken Ozempic. I don’t know what Ozempic does to you… I think that it is the miracle drug in the right hands… If you need to lose some weight, who cares how you do it, as long as you’re doing it in a healthy way”.
Kelly did, however, confess to having undergone gastric sleeve surgery during an appearance on the Hollywood Raw podcast in 2020.
While she acknowledged that the surgery helped with weight loss, she made it clear that it was no magic fix. She explained,
“The kind of surgery I had, if you don’t work out and you don’t eat right, you gain weight. All it does is move you in the right direction. So, anyone who’s thinking of doing something like this, really think about that… It doesn’t solve all your problems. It’s not a quick fix”.
Kelly Osbourne’s journey through fame, weight loss, and relentless criticism shows just how tough Hollywood can be.
But through it all, she’s proving that true change starts from within, no shortcuts, no magic pills.
