In the Instagram video, the songstress touched upon her recent split from husband Ryan Hurd and how it has somewhat scared her from ever falling in love again. She shared,
“‘I Hope I Never Fall In Love’ is pretty self-explanatory from the title. Having just gone through a giant breakup, just not wanting to go down that path again”.
She further explained that she’s now ready to explore the new norm of the ‘situationship’. She added,
“[I am] wanting to keep things casual and really just lean into the situationship of it all”.

Morris’ latest EP, Intermission, is set for release on August 2, 2024. I Hope I Never Fall In Love is the second song to be released from the EP. All the songs explore a common theme that revolves around the singer’s divorce and heartbreak.

“There’s a sort of bittersweet throwback… It just feels like you get to scream the chorus…”
Maren Morris was married to singer Ryan Hurd for five years, from 2018 to 2023. The former couple separated and filed for divorce in October 2023. Their divorce was finalized in January 2024. Maren and Ryan also share the custody of their son, Hayes.
