During their March 20, 2025, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the newly engaged lovebirds opened up about a hilariously unexpected twist in their engagement while promoting their collaborative album, I Said I Love You First.
Recalling the never-before-shared moment, Selena admitted she had no idea the big question was coming. She told Fallon,
“No, I had no idea [about it]. Because we had to do a lot of promo for the album, so I woke up and I was very confused on what was happening and where we were going ‘cause it seemed kinda far. I was kind of a little grumpy and like, I’m really tired…”
That’s when Benny jumped in, revealing just how anxious he was about the proposal almost falling apart. He confessed,
“I was freaking out! She was mad and she almost didn’t even come. She was like, I don’t feel that well. I think I’m just gonna stay home today. Can we just [do] the shoot another day? And I’m trying to figure out a way to do it [the same day]”.
