Looks like besties Taylor Swift and Blake Lively might be hitting a rough patch.
On May 15, 2025, an anonymous source close to the duo spilled exclusive details about the current state of their friendship in light of Taylor being subpoenaed by Justin Baldoni’s legal team to testify in his lawsuit on May 8.
Offering insight into the Midnight Rain singer’s stance on being dragged into the legal drama, the source told PEOPLE magazine,
“[Taylor and Blake’s] friendship has halted. Taylor wants no part in this drama”.
Another insider also addressed the situation that same day, telling the outlet,
“They are indeed taking some space, but they are not no longer friends. [The subpoena] has fractured the fragile peace between them”.
This revelation comes shortly after the shocking claims that the Gossip Girl alum allegedly pressured Taylor to take her side in the ongoing legal battle.
Blake Accused Of Blackmailing Taylor For Support In Legal Battle
On May 14, 2025, Justin’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, submitted a new court filing in which he claimed to have received a significant tip from an anonymous source.
According to the tip, detailed in Freedman’s letter, Lively’s attorney allegedly contacted Swift’s legal team in what was described as,
“An attempt to intimidate and coerce a percipient witness in this litigation… requested that Taylor Swift make a social media statement in support of Ms. Lively… if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively’s possession would be released”.

Shortly after, the Simple Favor star’s lawyer, Mike Gottlieb, released a statement refuting the claims made by Freedman, saying,
“This is categorically false. We unequivocally deny all of these so-called allegations, which are… completely untethered from reality… The Wayfarer parties’ lawyers appear to love nothing more than shooting first, without any evidence, and with no care for the people they are harming in the process. We will imminently file motions with the court to hold these attorneys accountable for their misconduct”.
However, on May 15, the letter filed by Baldoni’s legal team was struck from the docket after the judge deemed it “improper”.
Addressing the legal drama, Swift’s spokesperson released a fiery statement earlier on May 9, firmly distancing the pop star from the 2024 film It Ends With Us. They shared,
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions… she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film… The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of her song My Tears Ricochet… which 19 other artists also did…”
The heated feud first began in December 2024, when Blake filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his production company, and several others involved in the 2024 film. She accused them of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign to tarnish her reputation.
In January 2025, Justin firmly denied the allegations and fired back with a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others, alleging civil extortion and defamation.
The case remains ongoing, with no final ruling yet. The trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026.
