On May 22, 2024, while promoting her new film Atlas in Mexico City, Jennifer Lopez was asked about the ongoing divorce rumors surrounding her marriage with Ben Affleck.
The Marry Me actress was joined by her co-star Simu Liu on the conference stage, in a room full of reporters.
Simu Liu takes a stand for Jennifer Lopez
One of the reporters at the conference asked Lopez,
“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors? What is the truth?… What is the truth of the situation?”
However, actor Simu Liu immediately interjected by saying,
“Okay we’re not doing that. Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you”.
Lopez, on the other hand, answered the question with a firm look at the reporter,
“You know better than that”.
Liu further added,
“C’mon, don’t come in with that energy, please”.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are currently a hot topic as the rumors of their separation and divorce are all over social media.
An anonymous source claimed to the People magazine on May 17, 2024, that the couple is living separately due to trouble in their marriage. Further fueling the rumors, a different insider told the same outlet on May 22, 2024, that Jennifer and Ben’s marriage is on the rocks.
Fans Were Not Happy With The Reporter’s Question
Fans were also enraged with the alleged unprofessionalism showcased by the unidentified reporter during the conference. On an X post about the whole incident, one comment read,
“…It is unprofessional to ask about her personal life, marriage in that space. She is there to talk about the movie. Putting her on the spot like that is rude”.
Despite the rumors, Jennifer Lopez is focused on promoting her new film. The reporter’s question to her has also sparked conversation about boundaries between professional and personal life for celebrities.
