Looks like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds aren’t letting their legal drama with actor-director Justin Baldoni slow them down.
On April 29, 2025, the lovebirds stepped out hand-in-hand for a date night at New York City’s Minetta Lane Theatre. They were there to cheer on one of their closest friends, Hugh Jackman, starring in the Off-Broadway production Sexual Misconduct Of The Middle Classes.
For the special outing, Blake turned heads in a chic leather co-ord set, a fitted top with flared ruched detailing paired with oversized, floor-length pants. She completed the look with silver spike-detailed heels and a shiny, colorful clutch.
Ryan, meanwhile, kept it cool and casual in a burgundy jacket layered over a white crochet-style shirt, paired with relaxed-fit beige pants. His signature glasses and chunky white sneakers completed the effortlessly stylish look.
In the paparazzi captured images, the couple was seen firmly holding hands as they made their way into the theater, flashing warm smiles for the cameras.
Inside, Ryan was spotted giving Hugh a big hug as the actor stepped out from backstage to greet them. Blake also shared a friendly handshake with Jackman before the trio headed in together.
Blake And Ryan Hit With Major Setback In Their Legal Battle
Just days before their latest public outing, on April 25, Marvel Entertainment, LLC filed a letter with Judge Lewis J. Liman in the Southern District of New York, asking the court to “quash the subpoena” related to Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine character, Nicepool.
In their request to the court, Marvel explained their stance and asked for protection, writing,
“Issue a protective order prohibiting the disclosure of Marvel’s confidential documents by any party or other nonparty in this action. Marvel requests that the Court stay the return date of the Subpoena and related document requests until after the Court decides the pending motion to dismiss of Counterclaim Defendant Ryan Reynolds”.

Marvel was originally subpoenaed to hand over documents because Nicepool’s appearance in the film, specifically his man bun, bore a resemblance to a past hairstyle worn by Justin. Plus, the character’s self-proclaimed feminist label was also seen as a subtle jab at Baldoni, who has publicly identified as a feminist in the past.
Baldoni called these apparent digs “bullying” in his ongoing lawsuit against Blake and Ryan. But in response to Marvel’s latest filing, the It Ends With Us actor’s legal team fired back, arguing that,
“Marvel did not meet and confer with us in a good faith effort to resolve this dispute”.
Moreover, the Gossip Girl alum and Reynolds aren’t the only ones standing by Jackman. Amid their ongoing legal battle, the X-Men star has made it clear he’s firmly in their corner.
In an exclusive interview with In Touch Weekly published on March 31, 2025, an insider close to Hugh revealed that if he’s called to testify during the trial, he won’t hesitate, saying,
“If this actually goes all the way to court and Hugh is forced to take the stand, there’s no question he will step up. At this point, Ryan is like a brother to him, he will have his back no matter what it takes”.
Fans Drag The Couple’s Latest Appearance, Call It A PR Stunt
The online crowd wasn’t exactly thrilled to see Blake and Ryan stepping out for their Broadway night. Social media quickly lit up with criticism, as users made it clear they’re tired of the duo making headlines. Some such comments online read,
“We do not care about these people. Please stop”.
“Stop giving these two so much attention . They must be paying media a lot of money”.
“Most hated couple”.
“Oh look! Blake Lively in yet another God-awful outfit!”

Despite the mounting legal drama, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds continue to live their lives in the spotlight, proving they won’t be fazed by the controversy surrounding them.
