The Duchess of Sussex is finally telling her story, on her own terms, in her first-ever podcast appearance.
In a rare interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, Meghan opened up about the intense pressure of life in the spotlight due to her royal ties through Prince Harry, and the personal toll of constantly being scrutinized.
Making it clear that she’s done trying to meet anyone else’s expectations, Markle began by saying,
“We spend so much of our life trying to prove something. To prove that you’re enough. You have to prove that you’re pretty enough. You have to prove that you’re smart enough. You prove that you’re a good wife or a good friend and I was like, I am just so done with the prove it game!”

She also addressed the wave of online hate she’s faced in recent weeks, particularly harsh criticism of her parenting after sharing glimpses of her children online. The Suits alum said,
“I don’t need to prove to you… because I know that I’m a great friend, and I know the kind of mom I am, and I know the kind of human being I am. I know how I show up, and I love being able to be that person with the people that I love”.
Prince Harry And Kids Surprise Meghan With Heartfelt Letter
The Duchess was also surprised with a heartfelt gift from her husband and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, during the podcast. It was a handwritten letter that instantly brought her to tears. The message read,
“From Archie and Lili via Papa. We love your cooking. We love your pancakes and we love, love, love your hugs. You’re the best mummy and we love you”.
Wiping away tears, Meghan lightened the emotional moment with a touch of humor, referencing her no-makeup look for the interview as she said,
“So sweet. I also love that it’s mummy, instead of mommy, which is very British. I wasn’t expecting this, they’re just so great. This is why it’s so nice to have no make up on, thank you”.
When asked about her marriage and relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan couldn’t help but gush over her husband, saying,
“My husband’s very, very handsome. But his heart is even more beautiful. I feel that every day in how supportive he’s been and is… So now seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way. And that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now”.
Just weeks before Meghan’s emotional podcast appearance, an insider close to the couple stirred controversy with claims made in an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun on April 6, 2025.
The source alleged that Meghan was the driving force behind Prince Harry’s recent resignation from Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana.
According to the insider, Meghan reportedly had tensions with the charity’s chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, which may have influenced Harry’s decision to step away. Amid rising criticism, Harry allegedly asked Dr. Chandauka to publicly defend his wife, a request she ultimately declined.
Sophie later shared in an interview,
“I said I wouldn’t. Not because I didn’t care about the duchess, but because I knew what would happen if I did so… That is an example of harassment and bullying at scale”.

Fans Slam Meghan After Emotional Crying Session In Interview
The online community, however, wasn’t as sympathetic to Meghan’s emotional moment. Many netizens quickly called out what they perceived as “fake tears”, claiming they were aimed at gaining sympathy. Some of the comments online read,
“She should use the dried flowers to catch her fake tears”.
“Meghan’s crocodile tears on cue—timed to steal the spotlight”.
“This is brilliantly funny and painfully accurate glimpse into her daily idiotic routine”.
“Very predictable! What a clown!”

While Meghan Markle’s emotional interview shed light on her personal struggles, the harsh backlash from fans only highlights the ongoing tension between the Duchess and her critics.
